Charles H. Atwood started piano lessons at age five and at age nine began violin lessons, first with Gay Detzer, and then with Katsutoshi Nakamura at the school in Seattle which later became the Pacific Northwest School of Music. He went on to receive his Bachelor degree at Washington University, his Masters at Bowling Green State University, and his Doctorate of Music Arts from the University of Maryland. Charles has been the composer in residence for the Northwest Symphoniette and violin/viola instructor at Gene Nastri Community School. In addition to performing both classical music and jazz with numerous ensembles, he currently teaches both violin and viola and serves as the Assistant Director at the Pacific Northwest School of Music.
