We offer private instruction in violin, viola, cello, piano, and guitar, along with group lessons and special performance events. The curriculum ranges from the most elementary compositions through classical sonatas and concertos. A special emphasis is placed on the development of good listening skills, technical facility and individual musicality.
The Suzuki preschool classes are especially designed for children 3-4 years of age and their parents. Each session lasts for eight weeks, and meets once a week for 45-55 minutes. Parents and children are introduced to the Suzuki method and philosophy, basic music concepts such as rhythm, ear training, and music appreciation, and exposed to various instruments taught by the school.
The PNSM Chamber Music Summer Workshop is specially designed for violin, viola, cello, and piano students. All students should be able to sight read, play with vibrato, play spiccato, and play in high positions on the instrument. Violin, viola, and piano students should have finished Suzuki Book 4 or equivalent. Cello students should have finished Suzuki Book 3 or equivalent. Non-PNSM students are welcome to register. The curriculum includes chamber music (both small and large ensembles), music theory, and music history.
