Sydney-Han Lee

Pianist Sydney Lee received her Bachelor and Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.  A native of Korea, she began her piano studies at age five.  At age sixteen, she was the Grand Prize winner of Pearl Amster Concerto Competition which featured her as a soloist to perform with Austin Civic Orchestra.  A recipient of a scholarship award from The National Guild Auditions, she was also a third prize winner in Omega Psi Phi  Talent Hunt Competition as well as a finalist at Samick International Piano Competition.

Sydney’s primary teachers include Edward Auer, Evelyne Brancart, Sylvia Ho, and Joseph Packales.  She has performed in master classes given by internationally acclaimed professors and artists such as Angela Cheng, Cecil Licad, Russell Sherman, Josef Gingold, and Janos Starker.  Sydney’s performance during the master class with  pianist Angela Cheng was broadcast on KCOS-TV.  She has given numerous solo and chamber music recitals in major cities in the U.S. including Seully Hall in Boston, MA as a part of Boston Conservatory’s Music Extension Programs, Lyon & Healy Hall in Chicago IL, Lutkin Hall at Northwestern University in Evanston IL, Bates Recital Hall in Austin, TX for Texas Music Educator’s Series, Good Shepherd Center in Seattle WA, and Resonance at Soma Towers in Bellevue, WA with her chamber music group Belle Arte Trio. She has attended Interlochen Arts Camp, Texas Music Festival, and Aspen Music Festival where she also served as a piano collaborator for master classes.

A former faculty member of Seattle Conservatory of Music, she is currently on the piano faculty at Pacific Northwest School of Music.  Sydney has been invited to adjudicate Solo & Ensemble Contest in Lake Washington and Kent school districts in Washington state. She is an active collaborative pianist accompanying the auditionees at Seattle Opera, Seattle Young Artist Music Festival, and Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside.  Sydney resides in Bellevue, WA with her husband where she maintains a private piano studio.
